The Letter Formally Known As Q (LFKAQ) is an oral history and archival project documenting the intergenerational narratives of Twin Cities-based Queer & Trans immigrants of color and their personal experiences of migrating, growing up, and making home in Minnesota.
Focusing on the root causes of mass migration and displacement around the world–particularly the role of U.S. foreign policies and politics–this series maps the lived experiences of Queer and Trans immigrants of color and their lives on the margins of Western culture and traditions.
Exploring Queerness as a social, cultural and political identity, LFKAQ seeks to provide a platform for Queer, Trans and Gender-Expansive people of color to share their stories in first-person, annotate their own lineages and narrate definitions of Queerness that can help others to expand the possibilities of what it means to live in a world without borders, defying man-made limitations, as a full, dignified human.
Printed & published through Wise Ink Publishing, a Minneapolis-based Black owned publishing company, this new Queer-centering art publication includes 80+ pages of vibrant, full-color studio and environmental portraits, transcribed interviews and graphic quotes gathered from local residents originally from Cameroon, India, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Kenya.
